Jako Hall
Captain Jako Hall has 11 years of experience as a superyacht captain, including 5 years of experience as a fleet captain, and 13 years of experience as a naval officer. During his time at sea, he has passaged and operated vessels in many locations around the globe including the Bahamas, Mediterranean, and Caribbean, as well as in more remote areas such as Alaska, Iceland, Scotland, the west coast of Sweden, and British Columbia. In 2019 he navigated the infamous Northwest Passage in a non-ice class vessel.

Superyacht Captain
As a superyacht captain, Mr. Hall was instrumental in providing a high-level luxury experience across multiple platforms, with a priority on safely operating the relevant vessels, meeting all compliance requirements, and providing the owner with an enjoyable and seamless experience while aboard. He was also responsible for managing a team of six captains and more than 75 crew members across two superyachts, itinerary planning, crew training, refit management, and budget planning relating to both vessels.


From 1995 to 2007, Mr. Hall served in the South African Navy in various positions including warfare officer, navigation officer, and operations officer. Among the many highlights in his naval career, a particular standout for Mr. Hall was his selection as an exchange officer sent to serve on board the U.S. Aircraft Carrier John F. Kennedy (CV67) for a non-stop period of one year.
Hobbies & Interests
Jako Hall’s professional areas of interest include cruising destinations off the beaten track, A.I. in superyachts, how to be an effective leader, how to lead multiple generations, and human management software platforms such as Leapsome. He also has a focus on green living and conservation, with a particular interest in how superyachts can minimize their plastic footprint and impact on the ocean ecosystem through their choice of products.
In his free time, Mr. Hall enjoys a diverse range of hobbies and interests including road cycling, long-distance ocean swimming, standup paddleboarding, surfing, kite surfing, and running in the mountains. The latter includes the Vindios Loop in the Picos de Europa, Spain, a challenging hike that takes in foothills and forests that are home to a plethora of wildlife including the Iberian wolf and brown bear.
He also likes to read and cites a few of his favorite books as The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, The Mountain Shadow and Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts, 1421: The Year China Discovered the World by Gavin Menzies, A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle and Nathaniel’s Nutmeg by Giles Milton.
Food is one of Mr. Hall’s great passions; he loves exploring different cuisines and cooking cultures and has eaten at renowned restaurants including Arzak and Etxebarri.
